Horseback Riding
The horses at Lucky Stables are no common horses. These horses are local horses, that are given the name: Antilliano's. These brave and well trained horses are all born on St. Maarten and grew up roaming the nature park in Caybay. The breeding program is under supervision of Roderick Halley, who know each of his horses name and background.
In the bloodline of these horses the ancient Spanish horse bloodline combined with the PasoFino influence results their smooth gate, which offers a most comfortable ride.
All the trail rides start right from under the Tamarind Tree. Named the Wise Old Tree, this more then 100 years old tree witnessed the developments of Seaside Nature Park, the former cattle plantation and their owners.
The trails go slightly up and down hill and offer splendid lookouts. One of the highlights is the stop on the most southern part of the island of St. Maarten, where there will be possibility to take a picture of the rider on its horse, with the Caribbean Sea and the cruise ships in the far background. From this point, the islands of Saba and St. Barths can be seen, and on clear days even Nevis and St. Kitts. During the ride, your guide will tell you interesting facts about the history and the nature of the park.

Hiking
Besides horseback riding, Seaside Nature Park offers the promotion and education on nature, culture and history of St. Maarten.
The park offers a great variety of trails through the original vegetation of the island and is a pristine piece of nature, that is unique for the island of Sint Maarten.
Take a relaxed walk on the wide trails of Cay Bay, or join the guided hiking tours discovering Captain Henk's Cove and the rocky coastline showing the archeological layers of history.
Flora and fauna
Flora
The flora offers a great variety in trees and cacti. The rare barrelhead cacti, the high doodle doo cactus and the lady of the night are mixed with the gumbs tree, balloli trees and the wild cherry trees are some of the few.
Fauna
In the Park, there are small wildlife creatures that are part of the local fauna. There is the mongoose, a small fretlike animal and the different lizards, iguana's and land crabs that are met on the trails. The sky offers sights on the wild mountain doves, white egret, the sparrow hawk, locally known as the kiley kiley and the hundreds of butterflies.
Also several horses, young foals with their mother, or older retired horses, that are loose in the park.
Area Cay Bay
The area of Caybay that is part of the Seaside Nature Park has been of great historical value. The guide can tell you everything about the adventures of Peter Stuyvesant, the late founder of New York, who lost his leg, fighting the Spanish conquistodores in fort William. The trails lead next to the coves, which where used by the Caribbean Pirates to hide their treasures.
You will also see the bay where Speed II was taped, the movie about the runaway cruiseship. The horizon offers the contours of Saba, also known as Skull Island, used in the original black and white King Kong movie.
Depending on the weather, the views on Statia, Saba and St. Barths are breathtaking.
